We got the opportunity to go on a rare spontaneous adventure this evening. Our neighbor Joe (farmer/pilot/coolest guy next to Uncle Ryan) stopped by as we pulled into the driveway to see if we would like to go on a "quick trip to Oakland" in the Lear. That's right, the Lear. Zachary casually expressed interest (he plays it cool around Joe) so we all decided to go. This is one cool jet. We took off around 7pm, little did we know that Joe and his uncle Jerry (pilot/copilot) had scheduled a low level flyby for a family memorial service outside of Fallon. I thought I knew what to expect as Joe has done flybys over our neighborhood before, usually a subtle bank into a swift ascent. This was much more exciting than that. We did a couple low speed circles over the property then we came back and did a hard high speed bank and into a screaming ascent. I say screaming because that's what we were all doing. Zachary was laughing hysterically because he couldn't lift his arms until our hosts put us into a weightless negative g arc, which Zachary didn't care for. We all spent the rest of the 38 minute flight to Oaktown trying to get our heads back, with the exception of Chloe, she didn't make a peep the entire time, just another Saturday evening drive for her. Zach got to sit in the cockpit with Joe for a few minutes on the way there and we got to take in some bird's eye views of the Sierras. Round trip including our 20 minute layover at the Oakland airport was 2 hours. By car plan on 10 hours round trip.
